Empakaai crater commonly known as the Empakai crater is the evergreen volcanic caldera nest to the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Empakai crater elevation is approximately 3,200 meters above sea level and the crater is surrounded by steep wall standing almost 300 meters high.
Covering around 8 km wide the crater floor host varieties of attractions include wildlife species, Soda Lake hosting abundance of birds such as flamingoes. The Empakai crater is dedicated for hiking and walking activities. Generally hiking activity under the escort of armed ranger begin to the crater rim down to the crater floor taking almost one hour or one hour and a half and another two or three hours walk back to complete the activity of exploring the beauty of the crater.
