A visa is a permission granted to a foreign visitor who intends to enter into Tanzania for the purpose of visit, tourism, leisure, holiday, business, health treatment, attending conference or any other related activities recognized by Laws of the country.Tanzania offers several types of visa depending your interest and purpose of visitation. The types of visa include Ordinary Visa, Gratis Visa, Business Visa, Multiple Entry Visa, Transit visa and Student Visa.You can apply online visa in advance before arrival or you can able to apply the visa on arrival to the entry points. You can visit the Tanzania Immigration website to apply visa and the payments.
The ORDINARY VISA (SINGLE ENTRY VISA) is issued for a single entry to a visitor for a period not exceeding three months for the purpose of holidays, visiting, leisure, health treatment, studies or any other activity legally recognized by the Law.
Requirements:
- Applicant’s valid passport. It must have at least 6 months validity
- Respective visa fee depending on the type of Visa
- 1 passport size photo
- Return ticket
Business visa will be issued once to foreigners so as to allow them to enter in the United Republic of Tanzania for the following purposes. To conduct special assignments such as fixing/repairing machines or to run short term training, etc, To conduct professional roles such as auditing accounts etc, or To conduct lawful business according to the laws of the country.
Requirements:
- Applicant’s valid passport. It must have at least 6 months validity
- Respective visa fee (250 USD)
- 1 passport size photo
- Return ticket
- Registration document of the Host Company inviting the applicant, Business Licence or Certificate of Incorporation
- A work contract or covering letter from the Host Institution detailing the specific purpose (assignment to be undertaken) and duration of such assignment.
Transit Visa may be issued to a person for the purpose of transiting through Tanzania to another destination outside the United Republic for a period not exceeding seven days.
Requirements:
- Copy of the applicant’s valid passport.
- An entry visa or onward ticket to the intended country of destination.
- Respective visa fee (30 USD).
- 1 passport size photographs ( for those lodging their applications through embassies).
Gratis Visa may be issued for a single entry or multiple entries to a holder of diplomatic, services or official passport or Travel Document of recognized International Organization who is on official duty and their Dependents. It can be also issued to a holder of ordinary passport or Travel document as it may be directed by the Commissioner General of Immigration and Commissioner of Immigration Zanzibar.
