Ndutu Plains is among the vast short grass area within Ngorongoro bordering Serengeti to the southern. It is the important ground for the wildebeest calving from December to April and the area host abundance of predators and other resident wildlife all year round.

The best time to visit Ndutu is all the time of the year since the area host resident wildlife include number of predators while from late December large herds of wildebeest begin to arrive to ndutu ready for calving during February to April every year.
The area covered by the short grass plains, woodland vegetation, lake masek, marshes and lake Ndutu which attract water birds such as flamingo’s. The resident’s wild animals around the area include Elephants, Impala, Cheetah, Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Bat eared fox.
