Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic wildlife destination located in northern Tanzania, about 126 kilometers southwest of Arusha. The park covers approximately 330 square kilometers, with nearly two-thirds of its area occupied by the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara.The park is famous for its diverse ecosystems, which include groundwater forests, open grasslands, acacia woodlands, hot springs, and the lake itself. This variety of habitats supports an impressive range of wildlife.
Visitors can spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, hippos, baboons, and over 400 bird species, including flamingos, pelicans, and storks. The park is also renowned for its unique tree-climbing lions, although sightings are not guaranteed.Popular activities include game drives, birdwatching, canoeing during high water levels, cultural tours, and exploring the famous hot springs known as Maji Moto.Lake Manyara National Park is often included in the northern safari circuit alongside the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park.
